Between the Trees

For those of you who haven’t heard about it, here in St. Louis there has been a pretty crazy shooting. It took place just 6 blocks from our apartment, so Elizabeth and I are both pretty shocked by it. You can get the whole story here. This morning, the fire department responded to reports of a burning vehicle; when they arrived a gunman hiding in a nearby house opened fire and killed a 22-year-old firefighter. The police showed up and two more officers were wounded by the shooter before his house burned down around him of unknown causes. Your prayers would be appreciated for the neighborhood, the church we’re attending (which is even closer to the location than we are) and for the Lord’s work in this area in the wake of the tragedy.
