Doug Wilson just finished a series of posts on “thumbnail church history.” It is, as usual, thought-provoking and extremely thesis-driven. I’d recommend it to those of you who want a brief synopsis of the topic. I find that the best environment in which to initially learn history is one where the author’s opinions are splattered in plain view rather than being carefully concealed behind academic jargon. Besides, the notion that history should (and could) be done “objectively” is purely a pretension of the Enlightenment (or Endarkenment, as Wilson would have it). Check out the posts:
